Ballard Wednesday Night Classes
Christ. Community. Connection.
This is what we are offering at the Ballard Campus this quarter. We will have a host of classes for every age offered each Wednesday at 7:00pm from January 14th through March 11th.
For the children, our Worship Pastor, Tim Smith, will be teaching and also leading worship with the help of his three beautiful daughters. We are honored to have our world-class worship leader teach our children about worshiping Jesus and helping them grow as worshipers by walking them through the Psalms.
For older students, there will be age appropriate classes studying 1 John. These classes will have a teaching time and opportunities for students to build friendships and get their faith questions answered. Worship for students will be led by Deacon Joel Brown, who oversees the development of every worship band at Mars Hill, and fronts the worship team Red Letter. Also leading worship will be Deacon Brian Eichelberger who fronts the worship team E-Pop. Both men have toured extensively in various mainstream bands, enjoyed radio airplay, worked as producers on major mainstream albums, and guarantee that the music will be cheese free.
For those who want to overcome habitual sin of any kind (including addictions to such things as drugs, alcohol, and sex), want to be redeemed from the effects of sin committed against them including abuse (e.g. physical, sexual, emotional, spiritual etc.), or want to learn more about biblical counseling and how to help people in need, there are Redemption Groups. These groups begin with a 45-minute large group teaching time by Pastor Mike Wilkerson or Pastor James Noriega. They have been working on their curriculum for Redemption for over a year and I have been very encouraged by what they have created. My research assistant and I have done some work to help them, and your participation will also help improve the content so that it can be published as a book and also expanded as a conference through www.theresurgence.com, which will help train churches to aid hurting people around the nation and world. This ministry is a big deal that all the elders of Mars Hill are very excited about. If you want more information, please email redemption@marshillchurch.org.
And if none of that works for you, please join your Campus Pastor, Bubba Jennings, and I as we take turns teaching through the book of Proverbs. We will begin with a 30-minute lecture, allow people to take a brief break to get their coffee, and then reconvene around tables for discussion time. Pastor Brad House, who oversees our community groups, will be organizing people around tables by their neighborhoods. The hope is that people would meet others who live near them and build friendships and community. Some of these discussion groups will also be sent out in time to be community groups in Seattle area neighborhoods, although this is not required. All ages and life stages are welcome at this big Bible study. And we will be capturing the lectures on video for a curriculum to be published later in the year. So, we plan on making it worth your while. The topics for the next quarter are:
