If you aren’t already connected at Mars Hill, now’s the time! During the Winter Quarter from January 14th through March 11th, you can simply show up on Wednesdays at 7:00pm at the Ballard campus and participate in a Connect Bible Study. This week, Pastor Mark is teaching from various Proverbs on wisdom. Afterward, small groups will discuss the text with the help of a table leader. Our hope is that these small groups will eventually launch into the Ballard neighborhood as community groups.
At the same time, Pastor Mike and Pastor James are leading Redemption Groups. Redemption Groups are for those facing difficult and seldom-discussed struggles, like abuse, addiction, and trials of all sorts. It is a time for growing in knowledge of how God changes our lives by the Gospel. Registration is required to participate in these groups. Simply email redemption@marshillchurch.org for more details.
And finally, to ensure that all families can participate in these events, Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry are meeting as well. This week, Pastor Phil is leading the Children’s Ministry through part of Psalm 14, while Pastor Bubba continues the Youth Ministry’s study through 1 John.
So there you have it. We’ve eliminated as many excuses as possible to make getting connected not only beneficial, but pain-free. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday nights as we continue to learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
Now through March 1st, you can register for this year’s Women’s Retreat at the Alderbrook Resort on March 14th and 15th. The retreat will feature teaching from Barbara Hughes, who is the wife of a pastor, a mother of four kids, a grandma, and an all-around awesome lady who has been discipling women for over forty years. She has also written or contributed to several books, including “Disciplines of a Godly Woman.” Space for the retreat is limited so be sure to register right away.
The West Seattle campus is hosting a financial training day on Saturday, February 21st from 9:00am-3:00pm. Topics will include God and the economy, budgeting, debt management, investing and home-buying, practical tips for everyday saving, and a Q&A with workshop instructors.
