Men’s Advance | Reasons to Register
Have you been to a MHC Men’s Advance before? If not, then don’t miss out on this awesome weekend.
I was thinking about it this morning, and I made a list of some of the reasons you should REGISTER, if you haven’t already. You should register because this weekend is an:
- opportunity to learn about God and his calling for your life
- opportunity to grow as a follower of Jesus
- opportunity to meet godly men and build friendships
- opportunity for sin to be exposed
- opportunity to worship Jesus
- opportunity to be challenged by other men (iron striking iron)
- opportunity to network with leaders
- opportunity to have fun (campus vs. campus softball game)
- opportunity to repent of sin
- opportunity to strengthen existing community
- opportunity to learn from pastors
- opportunity to ask pastors questions
- opportunity to relax
- opportunity to meditate on your calling
- opportunity to develop as a leader in your home, at church, at work
After writing this list, I asked a few guys on staff about their experiences at Men’s Advance weekends and Adam Christiansen told me that “over the past few years, the Men’s Advance has been a weekend where many friendships are formed. I have seen God use this weekend to call guys to repentance, to be better husbands and fathers, and to step up into leadership time and time again. Guys gathering in prayer, in fellowship, in worship—these are things that you can expect to occur at the Men’s Advance.”
I also talked to Brandon Anderson who said that “there’s something cool about getting a bunch of men together who are interested in thinking about and planning for their futures. During all-night card games, we sat around and talked about what we were learning that weekend and then spent time alone praying and meditating on the next steps toward becoming the men God was calling us to be.”
In my own experience, I’ve seen guys come for this weekend as boys and leave with a vision of what it means to be a man of God. I’ve seen guys show up with no direction for their lives and leave with a calling to work toward. I’ve seen negligent husbands and fathers leave ready to love and lead their families. And I’ve seen unrepentant sinners leave humbled and ready to follow Jesus.
All this to say that the Men’s Advance is a powerful experience that you shouldn’t miss. So if you haven’t already, REGISTER today!
