College Mission: UW, Meet Jesus
As you may already know, the Ballard campus has a College Mission which focuses on reaching college students throughout Seattle, specifically the University of Washington. Since launching the College Mission a year and a half ago, we have gone from a small hand full of students to having 25 college community groups and about 150 students committed to reaching the UW. We have seen Jesus save many people through this ministry and are very excited about the upcoming year. Deacon Matt Jensen, the College Mission Director, is currently working through the Mars Hill eldership process, and our hope is to launch a video service venue at the UW this fall after he is installed as a Mars Hill pastor. The University venue will be part of the Ballard campus, but meeting at a different location.
With the goal of building long term legacy and impact on UW, the Mars Hill Church College Mission is starting the Mars Hill University of Washington Alumni Association. Our hope is to unite hundreds of UW Alumni with a common goal of making disciples of Jesus in every generation that attends the University of Washington. The Washington Alumni Association will be a network of folks who have a heart for the UW and want to give above and beyond their regular giving at MHC to see the gospel of Jesus reach hundreds of college students. If you are a UW alum and would like to take part, please e-mail college@marshillchurch.org.
But whether or not you went to UW or are able to support financially, we ask that you pray for this venture: that the right location would be made available, that the students of UW would be receptive to the gospel, and ultimately, that Jesus would be made much of at the University of Washington.
