Sightseeing

The Ballard Locks
Beautiful, educational, free! The Ballard Locks are located about a mile from the Ballard campus. You can walk if the day is nice! See salmon jumping the fish ladders, watch boats coming in and out of the ship canal, walk through the beautiful botanical gardens.

Golden Gardens Park

On the water, the westernmost part of Ballard, this beautiful park has a beach with a view of the Puget Sound and the Kitsap peninsula and Olympic Mountains beyond. There are toys for kids, picnic tables, barbecues, etc.

The Seattle Center

There is always something fun going on at the Seattle Center. Some of it you pay for, some of it is free. The Pacific Science Center is great for kids & adults alike; the Experience Music Project (EMP) costs a lot but if you are a diehard music fan, go for it; the Center House Theater, the Children’s Theater, Space Needle and many other great spots are all in Seattle Center. Walking around Seattle Center and people watching or playing in the giant fountain to classical music is free.

What Else Ya Got?

There is plenty to do in Seattle! Just try searching the internet under things you’re interested in – local eats, sports games, music, etc. If you are in doubt, feel free to ask your Mars Hill contact person if they have any thoughts or ideas for what you’re interested in.
